EMC XtremIO

By | Industry | No Comments

by Bob Powell, Works Solutions Architect

EMC just announced general availability of their all-flash disk array leveraging the XtremIO technology they acquired about 18 months ago. While not first-to-market in this category, EMC’s XtremIO platform separates itself from other all-flash offerings with a scale-out architecture, offering a full suite of features including inline de-duplication and thin provisioning for storage efficiency, a new data protection algorithm different from traditional HW based RAID, integration with the latest virtualization hyper-visors, and data storage algorithms tailored to the unique behavior of SSD’s versus spinning disks.  With EMC’s strong market presence, this technology should be very well received. If you are considering flash-based storage, enlist the team at Works Computing to help you determine the best fit for your workloads!
